Creepy Uncle Biden

Of all of the Democratic presidential contenders for 2020, Joe Biden has the highest approval rating, is the most moderate and thus has the best chance at defeating Donald Trump. (Which still isn’t much.) Unfortunately he is facing 4 separate accusations of inappropriate contact with women from this last week alone, and he hasn’t even officially announced he’s going to run yet. With as hypersensitive as the left has been in the #metoo era, it is possible that his bid for office may be sunk before it ever set sail.

These accusations should surprise no one. Joe Biden’s nickname is “creepy uncle joe” and he’s been videotaped and photographed routinely being overly handsy with people’s wives, female politicians and children.

Here is a short compilation of only a few of these moments.

A total of four women have accused former vice-president Joe Biden of inappropriate contact.

Nevada lieutenant governor nominee Lucy Flores said that Biden placed his hands on her shoulders from behind, smelled her hair, and then kissed the back of her head at an event for her 2014 campaign

The second woman was Amy Lappos who claimed that Biden had put his hands around her neck, pulled her in close and rubbed noses with her. She noted that it was not sexual, but it was inappropriate.

The third woman was Caitlyn Caruso, a former college student and sexual assault survivor. She said Mr. Biden rested his hand on her thigh — even as she squirmed in her seat to show her discomfort — and claimed that Biden hugged her “just a little bit too long”

Now, of course we treat every claim of misconduct the same. We won’t say Biden is guilty of these individual cases without proof, but we do have proof that he has done identical things many times in the past. The only apparent difference between what he has been alleged to have done and what we have proof of him doing, is that these women were not ok with what he did and are now speaking out about it.

I think we can all agree that Biden is creepy, and even though I don’t know what his intentions are, I would not be ok with him treating my wife or daughter this way. However it is worth asking WHY are these women coming out now? As recent politics have show, allegations like these are solicited by political opponents, like they were against Trump and judge Kavanaugh, as a political weapon.

Several of the accused are supporters of Bernie Sanders, the next most popular Democrat candidate. The Biden Camp have openly blamed Sanders for the accusations, pointing to how Florez has voted for Sanders, implying that she was politically motivated. Is that possible? Sure. Is her vote in 2016 evidence that she is lying? No.

What we can say is that TWO things can be true at the same time. Biden can be a real creep, as we already have proof of, and it’s also possible that these fresh accusations are politically motivated. We can’t say for sure, but it is VERY possible.

So how do you think the majority of Democrats responded to their best chance of beating Trump being accused of a #metoo moment? Many echoed the sentiments of Nancy Pelosi who said “I don’t think it’s disqualifying,” “He has to understand in the world that we’re in now that people’s space is important to them, and what’s important is how they receive it and not necessarily how you intended it.”

That seems like a pretty lenient response, definitely more forgiving than they would be for any Republican accused of the same thing. Many democrats came out in defense of Biden while echo that his accusers should still be heard. This coming from the same political party that has agreed saying “hello” to someone without consent was harassment, and that touching someone without consent is sexual assault.
